WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now a UK law (01/02/2010). The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment (WEEE) free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

The Batteries Regulations aim to significantly increase UK collection and recycling of used portable batteries from the current rate of about 3% to 25% by 2012, rising to at least 45% in 2016.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

Olivastu is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers a free service to take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical product from us.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below:
WEEE Logo
Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled or disposed safely.

How do I recycle my old products?

If this symbol appears on your product it means that you can return this waste electrical equipment to Olivastu when you are purchasing a new product from us under our distributer obligations*

Contact us on info@olivastu.com so that we can provide you with a return reference and details of our WEEE recycling address.

Please quote your Olivastu product order/invoice number and describe the item that is to be recycled.

Please carefully package any item to avoid transit damage.

We will then deal with the waste product in an environmentally responsible manner, at no cost to you.

NB: It has to be like for like (e.g. a Vape Mod for a Vape Mod, not a Vape Mod for a Vape Mod Charger).

Under the Waste Battery Regulations, Olivastu is now offering a take back scheme for all portable waste batteries.

You can return your waste batteries to our business address:

Access - Olivastu
Unit 2133
109c Dudden Hill Lane
London
NW10 1BJ

Alternatively, you can find your local waste portable battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.com

Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points. End-users may find stores in their local area more accessible.

Please note: this service only applies to householders and not businesses.
