It's been an uncertain year with a global pandemic hitting us right in the gut followed by the unprecedented lockdown. If there was even a slight iota of doubt about the unpredictability of life, it has vanished away this year with complete assurance.

As much as the world has embraced the new normal, it has been difficult and different for all of us. And this is not where the 2020 stops. Unfortunately, in recent days, PayPal dropped yet another bomb on every seller who has been using them as payment merchants. The worst affected is eBay as they are the biggest platform for selling vapes, pre-rolled cones, and other 'drug' related items. As this blow takes the vaping and smoking accessories industry by storm, PayPal went ahead and said that it was not in their control and the issue has been stemming from the reclassification of vaping by a few of the processors.

However, as the news has been coming forward and vaping businesses who use PayPal as their primary payment method are digressing more about the issue, it has been said that its PayPal slamming down the ban hammer.

According to David Gilberts, another e-liquid seller mentions that the reason why PayPal isn't facilitating the sale of any vape related product is that they feel there is not enough scientific evidence to say that the products are safe. He further goes on to say that science is evidently there, but after this stunt, how are we to ever trust them again?

They are many other businesses who have been using the payment merchant for a decade and have suddenly been shut off without any warning. A few others were already looking for an alternative and were able to fight this sudden news within 24 hours, but on the other hand, many others are struggling with their tied-up cash as PayPal has gone ahead and locked the accounts of vaping businesses and individuals for up to 180 days. Pretty disruptive and reckless if you ask me, especially with the second lockdown in the UK and the general chaos of Covid-19.

What happened to eBay UK?

eBay vs PayPal UK

With PayPal banning vaping products, e-juices, rolled cones and other smoking paraphernalia related to the 420 world, you cannot find them on eBay anymore since PayPal was the only accepted payment option on the e-commerce website. This means that every customer who was going to eBay for their 420 accessories will now be left hanging in the middle. Even though eBay is looking for alternative payment plans, it is going to be a while before it will be implemented.

The ripple effect of PayPal's sudden ban has left not only businesses on the hinges but also the vapers and rolling enthusiasts who will now have to shop elsewhere.
