Ice-cream is known as a summer delicacy that is enjoyed by everyone. But true ice-cream lovers know that it is made for every season, and more so when you infuse cannabis with it. Whether your sweet tooth is demanding something at an absurd time, or you just love cooking dishes with our green friends, making edibles is a fun process, especially when it is cannabis Ice-cream. 

The general way of toking cannabis has a large audience and accessories involved. But the world of edibles has recently begun expanding, and all kinds of innovative experiments are leading us to wonderful results. For me, making edible is an art, and you can only be better at it when you play with it. 

Let's take a look at cannabis in a pleasant way instead of its usually stigmatized view, and have some fun with this cold, flavoursome treat. In this blog, I will be taking you through three different recipes for Marijuana-infused Ice Cream, and you can decide which one you want to make for yourself. 

The best strains to make ice-cream are Choco Haze, Gelato, & Strawberry Banana. You can, of course, choose your cannabis strain depending upon the effect you're looking for. Make sure you don't use a relaxing strain when you're planning to start your day. 

Now, let's get started with the recipes. 

Decarboxylating Weed

First things first, when it comes to cooking or preparing anything with cannabis, we need to activate its compounds, especially the THC. The raw cannabis contains THCa, which is the acidic form of THC. It is non-intoxicating and does not carry any properties related to the well-known THC. To simply explain it, when you expose the broken nugs to heat, THCa gets converted into THC, which gives us the very loved 'high'. The same goes for CBD. Even though the word 'decarboxylation' seems like something very complicated, you just need an oven and some broken nugs to get the process done. 

To decarboxylate the weed, break your nugs into smaller pieces and spread it out on parchment paper which is placed on a baking tray. Make sure you have preheated the oven to 220 F / 105 C. Bake your broken nugs in the oven for about 30-45 minutes, depending on the density and thickness of the cannabis. Once the moisture has evaporated, and it has been in the heating chamber for long, you can take it out and either store it, or use it for your edibles.

Cannabis- Ice cream Recipe Number 1: Banana- Honey Ice-cream

Let's start with the most common and basic type of Cannabis Ice-cream. You can whip this up when you don't have a flavour preference, but we do make use of banana, honey, and rum, so if you don't like one of these, you can either replace it or look ahead for the other recipes that I have shared. 

What will you need?

  • 10g ground bud (This can vary according to your capacity/effects wanted-increase or decrease accordingly)
  • 500ml heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoon of butter/olive oil
  • 2 Ripe Bananas (400g)
  • 3 tablespoon rum
  • 75g sugar (Or any healthy alternative you want to use)
  • A pinch of salt (To bring out the flavours)
  • If you want to add any additional nuts, chocolate chips, etc, you can do so.
  • One large saucepan
  • A whisk
  • A bowl/plate
  • A Grinder
  • Freezer container to store the ice cream

Steps to make the Cannabis Ice-cream

Step 1: Place the saucepan on medium heat and add your heavy cream into it. Make sure the flame remains on medium unless you want to burn it(duh). 

Step 2: Keep stirring the cream for a few minutes, and then add your butter, salt, and sugar into the same saucepan. Make sure you're constantly stirring it. 

Step 3: Once the mixture is blended well, it's time to add the cannabis. Use a herb grinder to shred the decarboxylated herbs, and add them into the heavy cream mixture. 

Step 4: While the mixture is heating on the side, cut the banana in a bowl/plate and mash it up with a fork. 

Step 5: Add the mashed banana, the honey, and rum to the mixture and stir it for some more time. 

Step 6: Pour the mixture into a freezer container and you're done! Make sure the container is a comfortable one from where you can scoop a good amount of ice-cream when you're craving for one.

Cannabis Ice-cream Recipe No.2: The Famous Chocolate Ice-cream


Let's get ready for round 2 of our edibles. This time, we are discussing the recipe of Chocolate Ice-cream, something that makes everyone's mouth water! Doesn't it?

Here's what you will need to make this delicious ice-cream.


  • 3-3.5 Grams Cannabis (Decarboxylated)
  • 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder (Unsweetened)
  • 55 grams Chocolate (Semisweet)
  • 2 Cups Heavy Cream
  • 3 Egg Yolks 

Step 1: Combine Marijuana, Oil, Sugar, Milk, Cocoa Powder, & salt into a Saucepan over Medium Heat. Make sure you're stirring continuously. 

Step 2: After all the ingredients are well-mixed, filter it through a cheesecloth or strainer, allowing the last bit of goodness to come to the other side. 

Step 3: Now Pour the strained liquid on the Saucepan again, and put it on a simmer. In a small bowl, add your egg yolk and whisk it lightly.

Add about 1/2 cup of the hot mixture and stir it for a few seconds before adding everything back to the saucepan. 

Step 4: By this time, your mixture should start thickening. Be careful not to boil it. Bring it off the heat, and add the semi-sweet Chocolate after chopping them up. 

Step 5: Now that this delicious chocolate sauce is ready, pour it into a chilled bowl and refrigerate it for at least 2-3 hours. We are NOT done yet!

Step 6: The last two steps are comparatively easy. You just need to stir in the heavy cream into the cooled down mixture. 

Step 7: Pour this into the ice-cream maker, and freeze the result for a delightful cannabis desert. 

So now, you know how to make ice cream with banana, honey & rum, and with chocolate, let's move a bit further to the fruity side. I am pretty sure most of you have guessed it; it's time for Strawberry Ice-cream!!

Cannabis- Ice cream Recipe Number 3: Strawberry Canna Ice-cream


The flavour needs no introduction. Much like chocolate, Strawberry flavoured ice-creams have a very ardent following from several people, and it just felt right to include this into the list. 

Let's get started, shall we?

Ingredients Needed:

  • 2-2.5 grams of Cannabis
  • 2 cups of diced strawberries
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Cups Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • A pinch of salt

Step 1: Add your decarboxylated weed and milk into a saucepan, and allow it to heat for 60-90 minutes in a low setting. Make sure you keep your eye on it and keep it away from boiling. The ideal way is to maintain the temperature at 115°F/46°C

Step 2: Add your strawberries into a bowl with 1/2 cup of sugar and allow it to sit. 

Step 3: Combine your Strawberry-sugar mix with heavy cream, vanilla extract, salt, and the rest of the sugar. To this, add the milk + Cannabis mixture and slowly mix them all into a thick sweet-smelling paste.

Step 4: Pour this into the ice-cream maker and freeze the end-result to scoop a scrumptious after-meal dessert.

There you go, you have three Cannabis Ice-cream recipes that you can whip out on a hot, summer morning, or simply relish it when you're craving one. Hope this was helpful.
